Buenos Aires, Argentina—UPF’s Principles of Peace and initiatives were presented at an Ambassadors for Peace meeting that took place on May 10, 2018 at the office of Magnaverum, an e-learning company.
The meeting began with a performance by Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Lidia Teresa Ramini, which was followed by a presentation on UPF’s five Principles of Peace, which was given by Mr. Carlos Varga, director of UPF-Argentina. The Principles of Peace are:
- We are one global family under the same Creator, whose name varies according to each religion and spiritual tradition
- Human nature is inherently spiritual and eternal
- Family is the school of love and peace where we first learn the rules of living together and where we experience the different dimensions of love: filial, siblings’, conjugal, and paternal/maternal
- “Living for the sake of others” is a universal value and represents the highest level of living in the community
- Dialogue, knowledge, mutual respect, and interreligious and international cooperation are essential for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
Afterwards, UPF-Argentina’s activities in 2016 were reviewed. Upcoming events the chapter is organizing were announced, including a celebration of the UN International Day of Families with the Asociación Liga Árabe Cultural y Social (Arabian Cultural and Social Association), led by Ambassador for Peace Mr. Horacio Daboul, and a celebration of Africa Day with the Africa House in Argentina, led by Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Irene Ortíz.
Then, Ambassador for Peace Mrs. María Helena Rodríguez Sivera invited everyone in attendance to join her radio program “Espacio Abierto Diamante para la Paz,” which is broadcasted by Radio TV FM Diamante, and Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Silvia Olguín sought support for the dance studio El Triunfo (The Triumph), a place for children and adolescents to learn and be embraced through the performing arts.
The meeting concluded with Mr. Emanuel Sayavedra, president of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP)-Argentina and a member of UPF-Argentina’s Peace Council, encouraging all the Ambassadors for Peace to learn more about UPF’s and the local chapter’s initiatives and activities through UPF’s website: www.upf.org, and UPF-Argentina’s chapter webpage: www.upf.org/chapters/argentina, as well as through the chapter’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
