Birgunj, Nepal—On June 21, 2018, a UPF Ambassador for Peace Education Program drew 65 local participants in Birgunj, in the Parsa District. The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Bishambhar Kumar Sharma. Ms. Shanti Karki, deputy mayor of the Birgunj Metropolitan City, was the honored guest and main speaker. I gave an educational presentation about UPF.
Congratulatory remarks were given by Hon. Milan Rajbanshi, former member of Parliament of Nepal. At the program, Mr. Gajendra Man Singh was appointed as Ambassador for Peace and Mr. Niraj Pathakote Magar as Youth Ambassador for Peace. We also appointed Dr. Sharma, the program’s chair, as the District Peace Council coordinator of Parsa District, which works under UPF-Nepal. Other Ambassadors for Peace and local leaders joined the program.
Later we had a very congenial meeting with Chief Minister of State No. 3 Dormani Paudel at the chief minister’s office in Hetauda. He responded to our congratulations with his offer to extend his support to UPF-Nepal.
On June 23, 2018, UPF’s Ambassador for Peace Education Program in Bharatpur, Chitwan District was chaired by Mr. Ram Prasad Gaywali. The chief guest of the program was Mr. Tank Nath Poudel, who is the coordinator of the District Peace Council of Chitwan District. Again, I gave the UPF educational presentation.
After former Member of Parliament Milan Rajbanshi explained the responsibilities of Ambassadors Peace, she appointed the following five local dignitaries as Ambassadors for Peace: Rishiram Koirala, Yadav Ghimire, Bikram Shrestha, Kul Raj Adhikari, and Madhav Ghimire. All 61 participants were deeply inspired by the program and pledged to work for peace and the development of UPF in their district.
