Lima, Peru—In November and December 2018, UPF-Peru and its Ambassadors for Peace participated in and organized various activities, including the distribution of donations to communities in Lima, Cusco, and other cities.
In November, four Ambassadors for Peace, including Congressman Yonhy Lescano, travelled to New York to participate in the Global Conference for the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD), which took place from November 10 to 13, and was organized by UPF in partnership with the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC).
At the beginning of December, a forum of the Association of Broadcasters of Peru was held at the headquarters of UPF-Peru. Congressman Francesco Petrozzi Franco was appointed as an Ambassador for Peace and Dr. Trevor Jones, president of UPF-Peru, was recognized for his support of the Association.
In the final weeks of 2018, Ambassadors for Peace in Peru travelled to many poor areas of Lima, Cusco and other cities to bring hope and inspiration to people living in very difficult circumstances, giving out donations they received from businesses and organizations.
UPF-Peru provided logistical and strategic support for this. The chapter’s Secretary General Mr. Jaime Fernandez participated in many of these activities where he could share the vision of the founders of UPF of creating a world of peace.
As well, UPF-Peru continued its weekly radio program on Radio Moderna Papá 930 AM.
