UPF-Argentina Hosts Monthly Ambassadors for Peace Meeting

Buenos Aires, Argentina—Mission and leadership, initiatives and activities were some of the topics addressed during the Ambassadors for Peace meeting that took place on May 8 at the UPF-Argentina Peace Embassy.
At the beginning, we read excerpts from UPF’s inaugural speech “God’s Ideal Family—The Model for World Peace” (September 12, 2005), led by Rosetta Conti, president of the Women’s Federation for World Peace-Argentina and member of the UPF Peace Council in Argentina. Afterward, Miguel Werner, secretary general of UPF-Argentina, gave a speech with the title “Mission and Leadership for Peace” (*), content that had been shared at the Peace Council meeting on May 4 in Vicente Casares, Buenos Aires province.
This presentation addressed the crisis and conflicts of values, which are mainly material; and the crisis and conflicts of leadership, mainly arising from particular or sectoral interests. The conclusion was that we need to consider a new paradigm that focuses on universal values, the ideal of Ambassadors for Peace. This is strengthened by UPF’s mission, which promotes the renewal of leadership with strong spiritual values. With aptitude and integrity, training, and embracing the interreligious and the intercultural, this leadership should be able to provide solutions in different areas from its knowledge and wisdom. It should take the lead in change and creating a culture of Peace.
During the meeting, which had Emanuel Sayavedra as the emcee, young Japanese Ambassadors for Peace Mijo Obi, Motomi Hirai, Nichika Kabakino, and Mizuna Shinozaki sang a song. They received a diploma of recognition for their one-year voluntary work in our country, “for their filial piety heart, for providing their talent through music, and for their voluntary service during their stay in Argentina during 2018 and 2019.”
We also celebrated the birthdays of Ambassadors for Peace. We finished the meeting with interreligious prayers for our country and for peace offered by Peace Ambassadors for Peace from various spiritual traditions. At the end, Ambassador for Peace and Peace Council member Orfa Pérez offered raffle tickets for a family basket. The raffle will be held at the Ambassadors for Peace meeting in June.
