Buenos Aires, Argentina—On the occasion of Argentina’s November meeting of Ambassadors for Peace, we shared testimonies and videos on the latest activities: Peace Road, appointment of new Ambassadors for Peace, and celebration of the International Day of Peace in Pehuajó, Buenos Aires province, where we launched the campaign “Let’s Plant Trees: Let’s Sow Peace” 2019–2020.
The meeting, which took place at the Buenos Aires Peace Embassy, began with an instructive presentation of the words of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, UPF’s cofounder, read by Eduardo Corales. Miguel Werner alluded to the global initiatives promoted by UPF along with other organizations: Ambassadors for Peace, International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP), Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD), the Sunhak Peace Prize, regional and global Summits, and Peace Road, for which some Ambassadors for Peace shared their experiences. Christian Oreb, general coordinator of Red Cooperar, one of the supporting entities of Peace Road Argentina 2019, gave his testimony via phone, due to physical problems.
On this occasion, one new Ambassador for Peace, Luba Opeka shared about her brother, Father Opeka, who was nominated as a candidate for the Sunhak Peace Prize 2020 and whose work of three decades in Madagascar lifted hundreds of thousands of people out of extreme poverty. At the end, we celebrated the birthdays of Ambassadors for Peace Faiza Yahia and Liliana Hernández, and the young Peace Ambassadors from Japan sang a song.
