UPF-Argentina Honors Ambassadors for Peace and Volunteering

Entre Ríos Province, Argentina—UPF-Argentina bequeathed an Ambassador for Peace certificate to Sandra Villalba during a meeting held on January 21 at San Agustín parish church. She was recognized for her work of service and education for peace as the founder and president of “Mensajeros de Francisco,” an inclusive workshop.
During the meeting, we also gave Gustavo Oliva our “Recognition of Volunteering and Common Good” award, usually presented during the celebration of UN International Volunteer Day. He could not attend that event, which took place in December at Universidad de la Marina Mercante. At the beginning, Miguel Werner, secretary general of UPF-Argentina, offered a brief explanation of the values promoted by UPF.
At the end, we shared with Ambassadors for Peace Jackeline Giusti, Eduardo Borri, Emilio Ruberto and representatives of different organizations about Peace Road, the annual global mobilization whose theme is “Connecting the World through Peace.” This year, we seek to carry out this initiative with a bike tour that joins Parana with Santa Fe. It is worth stating that these cities from Entre Ríos and Santa Fe represent a valuable example of the impact of paths and bridges. Both sites have been connected and “brought together” in 1969 through an over two-kilometer underground subfluvial tunnel built under the Rio Parana river bed, which greatly contributed to inclusion and development in the Argentinian coast region.
