UPF Ambassador for Peace Named Rotary Leader

Vladivostok, Russia—UPF took part in a meeting in which an Ambassador for Peace was appointed governor of the Russian Rotary Club.
Ildus Yanyshev, a businessman, bicycling enthusiast and Ambassador for Peace, was the special guest at the meeting on October 6, 2020, on the occasion of his appointment.
Another Ambassador for Peace, Artyom Moiseenko, the president of the Kovcheg (“Ark”) public organization for the disabled and a deputy of the Vladivostok City Council, also was present, along with his assistant Kristina Shebaeva. Business leaders of the Primorye Region, Rotary Club members and UPF supporters also attended the meeting.
Maria Sergienko, representing UPF, spoke about the Autumn Marathon of Amateurs and the Peace Road bicycle event held in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, in September 2019. She presented copies of UPF Today magazine to the honored guests.
Ildus Yanyshev, after completing his solo Peace Road event, a Global Cycling Tour for Peace and People of Goodwill, and a joint trip across Russia with Alexei Kostyuchenko, a wheelchair user who traveled by handbike, wrote and published the book For Happiness – by Bike, in which he noted the importance of his receiving the UPF Ambassador for Peace certificate.
In his address as the new governor of the Russian Rotary Club, Mr. Yanyshev noted that reasonable production and consumption and care for the environment should now become an important component of the work of any Rotary club and other public organizations.
After this very friendly meeting, UPF received an invitation to attend the Rotary assembly next year.
