Ryazan, Russia—After breaking his leg, an ultramarathoner continued his 1,000-km "Peace Road" event using a hand bike.
Yevgeny Kutuzov, a UPF Ambassador for Peace, started out walking between the Russian cities that make up the Golden Ring. Then he was hit by a car while walking in a parking lot and spent some time in a hospital. After recovering, he found sponsors who provided him with a specially equipped hand bike, with which he is continuing his journey.
UPF-Russia continues to support Mr. Kutuzov on his journey inside Russia. He is pursuing several goals with his travels, including supporting the "Peace Road" project.
In early June Mr. Kutuzov stopped for a week in the city of Ryazan, nearly 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow,. During that time, he gave interviews to several TV channels and newspapers. Right before leaving, he talked with representatives of the regional Ryazan newspaper. Everywhere he goes, he speaks about the UPF Peace Road initiative.
As he left Ryazan, Mr. Kutuzov was accompanied by representatives of the “free biker” community, motorcyclists who have supported the "Peace Road" project for several years, participating in it every year. Some drivers passing by the convoy honked their horns in support.
Stopping at a service station outside the city, he thanked all the participants of the rally, acknowledging the "Peace Road" project once again. Then he personally said goodbye to everyone and continued his trip.
Good luck!
