UPF-Peru Appoints New Ambassadors for Peace

Peru—More than 30 new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed in a forum for the UN International Day of Peace, held last Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in the auditorium of the Congress of the Republic of Peru, Alberto Andrade Carmona. The meeting was sponsored by Universal Peace Federation Peru branch and the office of a congressman of the Republic and Ambassador for Peace, José Arriola Tueros.
The forum brought together outstanding leaders and Ambassadors for Peace who shared their thoughts and experiences with the audience related with the main theme of the 2021 UN International Day of Peace: “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world.” Likewise, UPF Peru president, Dr. Trevor Jones, who virtually participated in the forum, called the audience to join UPF’s initiatives and work together for peace.
The panel was made up of Congressman of the Republic of Peru, José Alberto Arriola Tueros; UPF-Peru secretary general, Mr. Jaime Fernández; Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD) Peru president, BP. Jesús Mejía Quiroz; International Association for Peace and Economic Development (IAED) Peru secretary general, Mr. Segundo Valentín Valladares; Peruvian Academy of Military History president, Crl. Enrique Gargurevich Godoy; health policy specialist Héctor J. Gómez Rojas, MD; former dean of the Lima Bar Association, Dr. Pedro Angulo Arana; and the President of the Audit Committee of Public Accountants Association of Lima, Ms. Roxana Díaz Bustamante, who read the message commemorating the UN International Day of Peace.
During the celebration, 33 new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed, including district authorities, academics, religious leaders, businessmen and civil society leaders, who ratified their commitment to promote peace initiatives and carry out social service work in favor of the neediest people. The installation of new Ambassadors for Peace ceremony was chaired by Mr. Jaime Fernández, secretary general of UPF Peru. The forum featured an artistic performance of the dance of scissors, “Danza de las Tijeras,” by Ambassador for Peace Roberto Saire Llana.
At the end of the meeting, recognition was given to all the panellists and copies of the memoir of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, “Mother of Peace,” were given to all the panellists and ambassadors who attended to the meeting.
