Argentina—UPF-Argentina recognized/appointed 13 new Peace Ambassadors at the monthly meeting on October 13, 2021, via Zoom and YouTube (1). Individuals from diverse fields, cultures and places were recognized for their solidary, educative, intercultural, interreligious, spiritual and social integration work:

The virtual meeting allowed the participation and recognition of Peace Ambassadors from different regions and countries, such as Chandan Goswami (Uttar Pradesh, India), a spiritual guide, founder and director of Ocean of Devotion, which seeks to alleviate daily difficulties by providing food and medical aid. Also, through Serving the Elderly, he takes care of older people. He was recommended by Peace Ambassador Inderveer Kaur, from the Sikh Dharma Community in Argentina.

Rosetta Conti, President of WFWP-Argentina, gave the welcoming words to the new Peace Ambassadors in representation of UPF-Argentina’s Peace Council. Carlos Varga, Director of UPF-Argentina, briefly explained the fifth Peace Principle of UPF: “Mutual understanding and respect, interreligious and international dialogue and cooperation are essential for harmonious coexistence and sustainable development.Miguel Werner, President of UPF-Argentina, was in charge of the information section of September.

Before the appointments/recognitions, there was an artistic section, with poems read by Peace Ambassadors. “Estelas de Paz,” in support of the International Day of Non-Violence and honoring Gandhi’s legacy, by María Irene Giurlani, President and Founder of Real-Izar la Paz, who recently published the book “Poemas para la Paz: Real-Izar la Paz.” And “Sagrada salvación,” by Mary Acosta, President of the Argentinian Academy “Alas” Latinoamericana and cultural manager “at the service of Education and Peace.

At the end, we invited everyone to the 2021 Interview Series organized by IMAP/UPF-Argentina every Thursday, in charge of journalist Adrián De Angelis, President of UPCAM and representative of IMAP-Argentina; and to the fifth meeting of the 2021 “Leadership and Cooperation” Series on October 20: “Spirituality, Bonds and Social Commitment.” This was broadcasted live on YouTube through UPF-Argentina’s channel.

The program was moderated by Peace Ambassador Luba Opeka, Public Relations of UPF-Argentina, and Emanuel Sayavedra, Secretary General of UPF-Argentina; at the end, they presented the promotional video of 2021 Peace Road “One Argentina through Peace.” There, personalities of different areas ask to join this initiative in all provinces through solidary, ecological, artistic-cultural, sportive, interreligious or intercultural actions; respecting the current sanitary arrangements.
