Miguel Werner, president of UPF-Argentina, introduced the speakers. Then, a brief video in support of the World Science Day for Peace and Development was shown, with remarks by Ambassador for Peace Silvia Haydeé Bojart and background music composed and performed by Miguel Ángel Basso (3). The moderators for the meeting were Ambassadors for Peace Patricia Pitaluga, president of the Civil Association “Acercando Naciones,” and Julio Nardini, representative of IAAP-Argentina.

On the theme “Art, Beauty and Goodness,” the speaker was Professor Bertha Bilbao Richter, literary critic and vice-president of the Hispanic Literary and Cultural Institute (ILCH), representative of the International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace (IAACP) in Argentina. In her talk she mentioned the poetry contests organized by UPF. On “Economy for Peace,” the speaker was Dr. Jorge Tuero, economic analyst and specialist in transcultural negotiation, representative of the International Association for Peace and Development (IAED) in Argentina. He also provided a brief report on the inauguration of this sixth UPF leadership area in Argentina.

Prof. Luba Opeka, journalist and member of the Advisory Council of Akamasoa Argentina, and head of public relations of UPF-Argentina, reported on the preparations for Peace Road Argentina 2021. At the end of her presentation, there was a live video connection with the new Ambassador for Peace, Luciana Zambrano, from the 2021 Peace Road’s monitoring team, who was at the Obelisk with representatives of different provinces of northern Argentina dressed in their traditional attire. This was related to the Day of Tradition, celebrated in Argentina every November 10, commemorating the birth of the poet José Hernández.

Architect César Sanabria, volunteer at the civil association “Los Principitos de Retiro,” shared his experience under the title “A TEDx of the Neighborhood.” He described how he managed to bring TED, an international organization dedicated to share “ideas worth spreading,” to the popular neighborhood “Padre Mugica” in Buenos Aires. Through his efforts, people from different disadvantaged areas in Argentina could share how they reversed their lack of opportunities and social prejudice through education, art, community work and innovations in computer technology.

At the end, we shared promotional videos on Peace Road 2021: “One Argentina Through Peace.” President of UPCAM and representative of IMAP-Argentina, Adrián De Angelis, invited everyone to the 2021 IMAP/UPF-Argentina’s Interview Series. Emanuel Sayavedra, secretary general of UPF-Argentina, invited everyone to the 2021 “Leadership and Cooperation” Series, organized during this year by UPF-Argentina and its leadership areas (IAPP, IAPD, IMAP and IAAP) along with Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) in Argentina.
