Saint Louis, Senegal - On March 4, UPF-Senegal Secretary General Mbaye DIOP traveled to Saint Louis to meet the city administrators, the Prefect, Mr William MANEL; the Vice Governor, Mrs. Seynabou GUEYE; and the regional chief inspector of customs, Colonel Oumar DIALLO.
Saint Louis had been the capital of Senegal before 1960. A center of tourism, culture, and trade, it is located on the Atlantic coast, 270 km north of Dakar.
Mr. William, a Christian, expressed deep appreciation for the concept of One Family under God and the goal of interreligious harmony. He was especially interested in the reports of service projects in the Philippines and Kenya. His city is on the broad estuary of the Saint Louis River, and he would like to work with UPF to clean along its banks.
The vice governor was also interested in service activities and hopes to see similar activities taking place in the city of Saint Louis.
Colonel Diallo was very charmed by the five Principles of Ambassadors for Peace and asked to be appointed an Ambassador for Peace.
The contact with the customs official was facilitated by Mr. Modou Awa Balla DIOP, the head of Personnel and Logistics at the Customs Office in the capital. A well-known person in government and religions circles, he was appointed an Ambassador for Peace on February 26.
