UPF Inaugurated in Goma and Bukavu DR Congo

Goma and Bukavu, DR Congo - A conference inaugurated the Universal Peace Federation in Goma and Bukavu in April 2014. Secretary General of UPF-DR Congo Mr. Futila di Mayeko and Vice Chairman of UPF-DR Congo, Mr. Tshiyoyi Gilbert traveled to the eastern part of the country to join Chairman of UPF-Kindu Mr. Tunda in organizing the conferences.
The conference in Goma took place April 4 at the Hotel Cap-Kivu on the theme "Living Together, the Best Process for Consolidating Peace and Security in the Democratic Republic of the Congo." There were 113 participants, and five new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed.
Two days later, a conference took place in Bukavu in the Salle Concordia on the same theme. Speakers included Mr. Jean Moreau, UN representative for the province of South Kivu. Twenty-four people were appointed Ambassadors for Peace.
The Kivu provinces are in eastern DR Congo on the border with Rwanda. A city with a population of a million people, Goma is the capital of the North Kivu province. Bukavu is the capital of the South Kivu province.
