Ambassadors for Peace Promote Peace and Development in Brazil

Sao Paulo, Brazil - UPF-Brazil in partnership with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) and the Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) organized an Ambassadors for Peace meeting and dinner on the occasion of Dr. Charles S. Yang's visit to Brazil.
Dr. Yang, UPF international Chairman, traveled to several Latin American countries and arrived in São Paulo on June 14, 2014, from Paraguay.
Around 100 participants, mostly leaders from all fields of society, attended the event, among them 70 guests and Ambassadors for Peace. The theme was: “Towards a New Paradigm for Peace and Human Development in Brazil.”
Dr. Simão Ferabolli, Latin America UPF secretary general and Brazil UPF president, was the MC.
Miss Hanna Modisi and Father José Eraldo da Silva offered a few songs creating a wonderful atmosphere while the guests were entering the room.
Dr Ferabolli opened the meeting with an invocation.
Mr Koichi Sassaki, Brazil FFWPU president, shared welcoming remarks and thanked all the participants for attending the event.
Then the UPF International introduction video was shown. Dr. Ferabolli read Dr. Yang´s biography and introduced Rev. Dong Mo Shin, South America UPF chairman, who gave welcoming remarks and called Dr. Yang to the stage for the main speech.
He shared about the late founder Dr. Rev. Sun Myung Moon's vision for establishing world peace and reported about the UPF activities worldwide thanks to the global network of Ambassadors for Peace who are involved in building a culture of peace through promoting interfaith cooperation, family values, leadership education and soft-power peace initiatives in Northeast Asia and in the Middle East, among other parts of the world.
Three new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed:
Mrs Albertina Duarte, coordinator of the São Paulo State Health Program for Adolescents
Father José Eraldo da Silva, Catholic priest, singer and founder of several charity institutions
Maria Lucia Amary, São Paulo state congresswoman, who attended the recent Montevideo International Leadership Conference organized by UPF.
During the dinner the following Ambassadors for Peace were called to the podium to share a few words:
Dr. Joveny Cândido de Oliveira, president of UNI-Anhanguera University, who traveled from the Goias state to attend the event, spoke about the importance of education.
Dr. Reinaldo Correa, police officer in charge of the Investigation Department of Narcotics, spoke about the importance of developing Ambassadors for Peace activities to prevent against crimes and corruption.
Mrs. Rosmary Correa, secretary in the state governor's office, shared her experience of many years observing the dedication and activities of the Founders Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han around the world.
Mrs. Adelina Alcantara Machado, national president of the Business Women Organization, encouraged all the women in the audience to stand up and to occupy more space in the society to promote a culture of peace.
Mrs, Maria Lucia Amary, as a newly-appointed Ambassador for Peace, said it is a great honor and at the same time a greater responsibility to promote more social justice and peace in the parliament.
Finally, Father José Eraldo shared words of blessings for everyone, wishing that everyone will find God's love and peace in their heart and find the strength to share it with everyone from each family spreading to the community and society across religious boundaries. And concluded with a final song of gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful time spent together.
