Abuja, Nigeria - To commemorate the first anniversary of the formal launch of the campaign for National Unification, UPF-Nigeria is convening a National Unification Summit at the National Merit Award House in Maitama, Abuja, on Dec. 12, 2014, to deliberate on the challenges facing the efforts toward national unification as well as explore strategies of moving from national unification declaration to the formulation and endorsement of national unification goals.
The National Unification Summit will provide opportunities for Ambassadors for Peace and other stakeholders to make a stronger commitment to strengthening marriages and families in Nigeria as tools for national unification. The program will advocate for declaration of era of National Couplehood with a call to all married Nigerians to wake up and raise their children in peace. The event will feature 120 National Couples for Peace. The theme of the summit is “From Amalgamation to Unification: Strengthening Marriages and Building Unified Families for National Peace and Unification.” The summit will also commemorate the 23rd anniversary of moving the federal capital of Nigeria from Lagos to Abuja.
The National Unification Summit 2014 will feature a presentation on National Unification Goals as a follow up of the April 14, 2014 National Unification Declaration by Ambassadors for Peace. Seminar presentations will include
- The Role of Religions in Family Building for National Peace and Unification
- The Nigerian Constitution and the Promotion of Interreligious, Inter-ethnic Marriages for National Integration
- Promoting National Unification through Couplehood in National Leadership and Governance
- Financial Issues in Marriage and Family Building
