Islamabad, Pakistan—UPF-Pakistan’s Secretary General Mr. Binod Paudel met with government and interfaith leaders in Pakistan in April.
Among the parliamentarians and government ministers he met were Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Hon. Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, with whom he spoke about UPF’s upcoming South Asia Peace Initiative conference in Pakistan, and promoting peace and interfaith harmony in communities in South Asia; Senators Hon. Mushahid Hussain Syed (Pakistan Muslim League) and Hon. Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar (Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party); Mrs. Neloofar Bukhtar, former minister of Women Development and Youth Affairs in Pakistan; and Mrs. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, a member of Pakistan’s National Assembly and secretary of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus.
Some of the interfaith leaders Mr. Paudel met were Mr. Syed Mujahid Abbas Gardezi, who has been working for interfaith peace and harmony in Multan city in Punjab province, and Ambassador for Peace Mr. Syed Jayaid Hasnain Kazmi. Mr. Paudel also visited places of worship, where he and other faith representatives offered prayers for peace.
