Nepal Celebrates Anniversary of UPF Founders’ Visit and Peace Process

Kathmandu, Nepal—UPF-Nepal celebrated the eleventh anniversary of UPF Founders Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s visit to Nepal (November 21 to 23, 2005), and the beginning of the peace process in Nepal (November 22, 2005) and end of the decade-long period of violence led by the Maoist communists in the country, with an event at UPF’s Peace Embassy building in Kathmandu on November 23, 2016.
On the same day Rev. and Mrs. Moon gave a speech to 5,000 leaders and guests – November 22, 2005 – an understanding was reached between the seven political parties within Nepal’s Parliament and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists).
Rev. Santosh Kumar Paudel, vice chair of UPF-Nepal, gave the welcome remarks.
Dr. Robert Kittel, education director of UPF-Asia, spoke about the life and significance of the work of Rev. and Mrs. Moon.
Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, president of UPF-Nepal, spoke about Nepal’s peace process and UPF’s contribution to it.
Mr. Binod Dangi, secretary general of UPF-Nepal, emceed the program.
