Russia-2019-04-26-Youth Roundtable Discusses ‘National Idea’

Moscow, Russia—Finalists of the 2019 Mister and Miss University competition took part in a roundtable organized by UPF.

The roundtable, titled "National Idea and Modernity," was held at the Peace Embassy on April 26, 2019.

Dmitry Samko, the secretary general of UPF-Moscow, said that in Moscow it’s possible to find representatives of every country in the world. He drew on quotes and statements from contemporaries and leading political figures of Russia.

Next, the participants were divided into a few groups to discuss the pros and cons of the existence of a national idea. It was in a discussion mode, just as they tried to understand the difference between the national idea and the state ideology.

Representatives of other cities and even countries participated in the discussion. Despite expressing different views and opinions, the participants were unanimous that the starting point in such a discussion is love of the motherland.
