Lima, Peru—The president of UPF-Peru, Dr. Trevor Jones, was among several people who were recognized for their contributions to society at a special ceremony held in the Raúl Porras Barenerchea Chamber of the Congress of the Republic of Peru on March 16, 2019. The event was organized by Congressman Luis Alberto Yika García.
In front of a large audience that included military personnel, retired soldiers and representatives of various NGOs, Congressman Yika presented Dr. Jones with an award for his outstanding work to promote a culture of peace in Peru.
Congressman Yika also honored UPF Director Rev. Dr. Jung Moon Lee for his work to promote a culture of peace on the world level. Dr. Jones received the honorific recognition on Rev. Lee’s behalf, and expressed his thanks for these awards. Dr. Jones also spoke about the development of UPF based on the vision of the founders, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
Dr. Jones, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Faith Jones, president of the Peru chapter of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), an affiliated organization, and a delegation of Ambassadors for Peace, said that UPF's work in Peru has been growing rapidly with the support of the Ambassadors of Peace, who are people who are actively supporting UPF’s work and enthusiastically working for peace in many areas of society.
