Lisbon, Portugal—The president of UPF-Portugal met with leaders of an international Portuguese-language platform, of which he is a founding member.
Within PISCIDIL (International Platform of Civil Society Lusophone Diaspora) the UPF president also represents the nation of Cape Verde.
Other platform members who took part in the online meeting on November 27, 2021, were:
- Joana Araújo (East Timor), the current director of the PISCIDIL project and the daughter of the late Ambassador for Peace Professor Alberto Araújo;
- Ricardo Amaral (Brazil);
- Danilo Salvaterra (São Tomé and Príncipe).
In this first meeting, which aims to restart the other part of the PISCIDIL project, "Ethical Leadership of the Nations," and its 11 founding board members representing the various countries and regions of Lusophony (Portugal, East Timor, Brazil, Goa, Macau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola, Guinea, Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Galicia), the following topics were discussed:
1) Current situation regarding the PISCIDIL social bodies (founding members who are still interested in the continuity and their availability?);
2) Report on the meeting on November 25 with a Chamber of Commerce from Brazil regarding the relationship with PISCIDIL and UPF.
3) Current situation of the PISCIDIL project in the scope of the ongoing "Leadership of Nations" online course already taking place through the Lisbon Academy of Sciences under the aegis of UNESCO.
At the end of the meeting, we decided, among other things:
- To hold a meeting with Professor Dr. Salomé Pais from the Academy of Sciences, for now with these group members.
- To schedule a General Assembly for January 2022 with all founding members to define a common strategy, with UPF cooperation.
