Character Education

U.S. Programs Forge Partnerships in Character Education

Mr. Eric McIntyre from the Office of Partnerships and Grants Development, a program developed and funded by District of Columbia’s Mayor Anthony Fenty’s office, spoke at a District of Columbia Character Education monthly community forum on October 18.

Mr. McIntyre spoke about his office as well as how grants are secured, how to find them, and how to use them to develop and fund your programs. Presentations on UPF’s curriculum, Discovering the Real Me were provided as well.

The community forum, recently established due to community interest, is forging partnerships with local organizations and UPF’s Character Education Initiative. It will feature monthly community forums and “train the trainer” programs. By forging partnerships and providing a forum for government, non-profits, and the business community to work together on the character education as a vehicle for individual, family, school and community empowerment and change, we hope to tackle some of the most pernicious and difficult problems facing our urban communities in the U.S.

Our next programs are Saturday, Dec. 6th, and the following Saturday, Dec. 13th, at the District of Columbia Police Department Community Room, 6001 Georgia Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C. Mr. McIntyre will be speaking again on Dec. 6th, so if you missed him the first time, don’t miss out again!
