Smt. Vyjayanthimala Bali, famous classical dancer, receives the Ambassador for Peace award from the Governor
UPF-India organized a program in Chennai on August 10, 2007 on the theme: "Innovative Approaches to Peace in a Changing Global Environment." The special focus was on youth and human security.

We were honored to have as our chief guest the Governor of Tamil Nadu, H.E. Thiru Surjit Singh Barnala. The Keynote Address was given by Prof. D. Viswanathan, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University.

We are grateful for their support, shown by their willingness to take their valuable time to help make this program successful.

Governor Barnala said, "I congratulate the UPF-India for its dedicated efforts to safeguard the interest of the youth.... Its activities to meet the threat and challenge posed by HIV/AIDS and promoting education and character in youth are indeed commendable."

More than 150 distinguished guests, students and staff attended the one-day program at the Dollar Tree Hotel in the capital of this state on the southeast tip of India. Concluding the program, several appointments of Ambassadors for Peace and Youth Ambassadors for Peace were made.
