Character Education

Martin Luther King Jr.'s Words Inspire Youth in Washington, DC

Washington, DC, USA - Youth leaders from the Richard England Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Club of Washington, D.C. explored what Martin Luther King, Jr. meant by “being judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin” at a “train the trainer” session held on December 17th.

The program was an introduction to UPF’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Words and Voice program as an educational complement to the many service programs planned for January 19, 2009 in the nation’s capital. The program uses video clips of Dr. King, includes training for youth leaders to take it to schools and organizations in their local communities and provides training in using UPF’s acclaimed curriculum, Discovering the Real Me character education curriculum to bring universal virtues to youth in our urban areas.

The educational programs and other service projects are offered between the dates of January 19, Dr. King’s birthday, and April 4, the day Dr. King was tragically murdered.
