UPF-Angola Engages in Dialogue with Tocoist Church

Angola-2022-11-06-UPF-Angola Delegation Visits the Tocoist Church’s Sunday Service

Luanda, Angola—The Universal Peace Federation in Angola maintains friendly relations with numerous organizations and churches. Thus it was that on Sunday, November 6, 2022, as a form of courtesy and brotherhood, a delegation of UPF-Angola and FFWPU-Angola leaders, composed of: Rev. Kinambuta Sambu Pedro, president of FFWPU-Angola; Dr. Manuel Adão Domingos, president of UPF-Angola; and Benvindo Wansung Pelani, secretary general of UPF-Angola, decided to attend a service at the Tocoist Church in Luanda, Angola. The founder of the church was one of the great African and Central African prophets, Simão Gonçalves Toco. The current leader of the Tocoist Church is Bishop Dom Afonso Nunes, an Ambassador for Peace.

The UPF delegation arrived at the Tocoist Church at 10:00 a.m. and participated in the whole service where they were welcomed by the church community, numbering approximately 8,000 people. Bishop Nunes thanked the delegation of the Universal Peace Federation in Angola for their presence during the service. After the service, the Bishop invited the delegation to his residence in the church, where he offered lunch. Once again they talked about the work promoted by UPF regarding the fight against the growing crisis of values in our society, and UPF-Angola expressed the hope that Bishop Nunes and the Tocoist Church will always be the main partner in the fight against anti-values and in the promotion of character education programs. At the end of the meeting, Bishop Nunes thanked the UPF delegation for their visit to the church and hoped they could come more often.

In his reflection after the meeting, Bishop Nunes shared an experience in which three days before the visit of the UPF-Angola delegation, he was thinking: why hadn’t he already received a visit from the UPF-Angola delegation? Then he said he considered the presence of the delegation as a spiritual answer to his thought and prayer, which shows that we are united not only physically, but also spiritually.
