Bangkok, Thailand—UPF–Thailand, in collaboration with Pattaya city and various organizations, held the "Peace Road Thailand 2022," on the theme, "Cycling, Rim-lae; Impressing the Pattaya Attraction," on November 13, 2022 at Pattaya City Hall in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri province. The event for peace promoted physical and mental well-being and the reduction of energy consumption.
The Peace Road, a project of UPF, dates back to 1981, when UPF co-founder the late Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon proposed an international highway that will physically connect all people of the world. The International Peace Highway epitomizes Rev. Moon’s conviction that humanity is one family under God and that if people could meet each other in daily life, through culture, trade and travel, the historic fears and misunderstandings that often divide us from our closest neighbors would break down.
More than 500 cyclists and honorary guests attended the event, biking through a 24-kilometer cycling route that passed through Pattaya Beach Road along Bali Hai Pier and surrounding areas.
Opening remarks were given by Gen. Terdsak Marrome, president of UPF-Thailand. Congratulatory remarks were delivered by Mr. Krishna Boonsawat, deputy mayor of Pattaya, and Mr. Sak-Udon Konthong, the project director, also gave remarks. An award was presented to the Power Wheel team for sending the most cycling participants.
An exhibition highlighting the vision and activities of UPF and affiliated organizations, the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and Youth and Students for Peace (YSP), was on display.
