Buenos Aires, Argentina—An olive tree was planted during an indigenous people’s gathering as part of the traditional “Northern Carnival” party at Plaza Grecia, in Buenos Aires’ Recoleta neighborhood. The event took place on February 4, 2023 (*).
UPF-Argentina was one of the participants of this gesture and commitment to fraternity and peace, appreciating culture and various creeds: “Ancestral knowledge towards understanding of the cosmos,” by invitation of Ambassador for Peace Luciana Zambrano, promoter of this event.
The tree was christened by the NGO “Mujeres, único sostén de familia” in a colorful ceremony which included many northern groups who inaugurated a landmark and then walked in caravan to Plaza de Mayo, where a representative dance and an indigenous camp were shared.
The planting was also done under the “Let’s Plant Trees: Let’s Sow Peace” campaign, promoted by the literary-ecological program “Y volverán a ser árboles” along with UPF-Argentina, a commitment to culture and peaceful coexistence among peoples and the natural environment.
