Excerpts from an article published in the Asian Tribune, December 30, 2005:
Peace and development being twins in a trap, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) with its chapter in Sri Lanka may go a long way in releasing both peace and development in our country looking at the relevant policies defined in their charter.
Sri Lanka President, who incidentally was also made a peace ambassador of UPF on a visit to New York as our Prime Minister he very recently, warmly welcomed the UPF delegation at “Temple Trees” on their visit here in November last, for the inaugural meeting to establish its chapter here.
A national inter-religious advisory council for Sri Lanka is being considered favorably by the President. The expertise of the UPF together with availability of vast funds at its disposal would be of immense benefit to the proposed religious advisory council and also for our economic development.
