Malta-2009-05-11-Peace Delegation Meets President of Malta

Valletta, Malta - UPF-Malta hosted a commemorative evening May 10 during which Dr. Young-Cheol Song, chair of UPF-Europe, delivered a keynote address on the theme of "One Family under God." Attending the soirée were members of the Administrative Council UPF-Malta and Ambassadors for Peace. Dinner was prepared by chef Tomoko Cassar.

On the following day, a historic meeting took place with Malta's new President, H.E. Dr. George Abela, at the Presidential Palace. Upon hearing Dr. Song describe UPF-International's work throughout Europe and its global activities in support of the United Nations, the president recommended that UPF-International hold an international conference in Malta.

Present at the meeting were members of Malta's Parliament, Hon. Dr. Marlene Pullicino and Mr. Noel Farrugia, both Ambassadors for Peace. Representing UPF-Malta were Secretary General Dr. Nnamdi Ahunanya, Council Member Mr. Bryan Corlett, senior Ambassador for Peace Dr. Emmanuel Bezzina, and Financial Administrator Mr. Francis Cassar.

A tree-planting ceremony took place at Ta' Qali National Park, followed by a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Louis Galea, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Tonio Borg.
