Peace education was the focus in Ryazan and character education in Ivanovo.

Developing peace education

“Peace begins with me” is the general topic of the activity for the 2009-2010 school year in the Ryazan regional organization “Teachers for spirituality and morality,” headed by Shmakova Larisa Petrovna.

Extensive work was done in October at school no. 2, which is considered a model school involving teachers, parents and children. The principal is Katkova Valentina Matveyevna. There was a meeting of teachers on the theme “Educating a citizen of the world.” It was said that world peace depends on peace in the family, peace in the mind of each person, and each person's moral standard.

The school is educating cadets. Much attention is given to developing patriotism and love for the native land, responsibility, and character education. Moral education is the base. Moral education is being carried out through the system “pupil – teacher – parent – environment.”  Work with parents is considered a very important part of education.

A meeting was with parents took place on the theme, “The Open Talk.” The presentation was about character education to help children withstand the pressure of the environment and to form their own viewpoint and ability to defend it. Much attention was paid to forming bonds linking generations. After that there, was an emotional meeting between people of two generations. The atmosphere of the meeting was warm and friendly.

The purpose of this activity was to help people of all nationalities, races, ages, and faiths understand his or her value.

Offering character education

Valentina Luganskaya gave five lectures in three schools on healthy life style and two large workshops for teachers and parents in International Educational Foundation model schools.

On October 17 – at school 34: “The Right to Live,”on AIDS and drug abuse prevention

On October 23 – at school 49: "Family as a School of Love"

The events were attended by teachers and Ambassadors for Peace who are collaborating on the program.
