In the Mogilev region of Belarus, at the initiative of the regional branch of the All-Belarus Peace Foundation, a border meeting of people from two districts of the Smolensk region and two districts of the Mogilev region took place. It commemorated the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus, as well as the 65th anniversary of the victory. Here are the words of the president of the All-Belarus Peace Foundation, Ambassador for Peace Marat Yegorov, who co-sponsored the event:
The meeting started traditionally with the offering of bread and salt, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorials. The grand celebration meeting was held in the district’s cultural center. Among the speakers were representatives from the administrations of the Roslavl and Shumyach districts in Russia, and the Kostyukovichi district of the Mogilev region in Belarus. All veterans who could move were seated in the first row. I handed to each of them commemorative medals on behalf of our Foundation: 'For active participation in the drive for peace.'
