Honiara, Solomon Islands - A leadership seminar took place in Honiara on May 21. The seven participants, who had attended an introductory seminar one month earlier, included two high school principals, two media representatives, two community leaders, and one student.
In the morning sessions, three lectures were presented by Chihiro Midorikawa, Willie Ningalo, and Alice Hou. Joachim Kuman served as emcee. After lunch, presentations were given about the life of the UPF Founder, the plan for developing UPF in the Solomon Islands, and the Oceania Leadership Team.
Participants were presented with Ambassador for Peace certificates by Hon. Hypolite Taremae, Minister of National Reconciliation, Unity and Peace. Some of them expressed their interests to introduce UPF programs and activities to their communities.
Reflections
Today’s seminar has been an eye opener. It has shown me that all humanity is just one family and God is our parent. As such we should be helping each other as brothers and sisters. I am very impressed by the work of the Oceania Leadership Team working in Solomon Islands. Though coming from other parts of the earth, they are living their lives for others in this part of the earth. - Deputy high school principal
The topics been clearly introduced and explained were really inspiring and challenging. To your Oceania Youth Ambassadors: move forward and do what God’s plan is for you as His ambassadors in the Solomon Islands and elsewhere in the world. I would like you to come to my village back home at Wagina, Choiseul Province to do educational program down there. But arrangement will be sorted out first. - Administrator of a broadcasting company
I learned a lot during the leadership seminar. I like to join you to work as an Ambassador for Peace in Solomon Islands. I see that there is a great need for our people. - Community leader
Today’s seminar is an eye opener to me to learn about what UPF has done and been doing. I understood very well that we are all one family under God. I hope as myself Ambassador for Peace, I will teach others on what I learned today. I want to start clean ups in my community. - Radio news manager
I am interested in the Oceania Leadership Team, because I want them to upgrade my small community in East Guadalcanal. - Community leader
