Baku, Azerbaijan - On December 28-29 the Azerbaijan branch of UPF held a seminar on the peace philosophy of Dr. Sun Myung Moon the founder of UPF. The program took place at the Irshad Conference Center in Baku city.

Among the participants were H.E. Rahim Huseynov, former Prime Minister of Azerbaijan; Dr. Ali Abasov, Professor at the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan; Sabina Mamedkerimova, Director of the Methodology Department of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan; Yashar Bashirov, President of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation; Nadir Ahmedov, former Minister of Communications of Azerbaijan; Dr. Taliya Mamadova, professor at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University; Dr. Huseyn Halilov, Professor at the State Architectural University of Azerbaijan; Minaya Feyzullaeva, President of “Zirve Ziyaliler” NGO; Dr. Mahamedalli Abdullaev, Director of the International University of Humanities.
Toru Nishiwaki, head of UPF-Azerbaijan, opened the program and made a presentation about the activities of Ambassadors for Peace in the region. He stressed the importance that Dr. Sun Myung Moon attaches to studying Unification Thought. Konstantin Krylov, Assistant Secretary General of UPF-Eurasia, made several presentation on the Principles of Peace followed by a discussion. Dr. Rafik Aliev, former Minister of Religion of Azerbaijan, greeted the participants. He was the host of the program, which was held at his business premises.
Mira Avsali, a family psychologist who is a frequenter at UPF seminars in Baku, said that such seminar materials are wonderful tools to support families in conflict. The former Prime Minister wrote in his reflection that “the two-day event confirmed once more the greatness of the teaching of UPF founder. His unshakable faith in the possibility of establishing harmonious relations between the peoples on the Earth is based on absolute values. Dr. Moon is the true fighter for world peace and his life is the evidence to the truthfulness of his philosophy."
UPF-Azerbaijan congratulates Sohib Bahshaliev, a veteran of the Nagorno-Karabakh War, who was appointed Ambassador for Peace at this seminar. He stressed that war is not a solution to human problems but brings suffering to families. In order to prevent future wars, he established a “Peace” NGO in Azerbaijan.
