Moscow, Russia - The Russian Peoples’ Friendship University in Moscow hosted a Conference of the Assembly of the Russian Peoples on February 24. The largest NGO of Russia, headed by Ambassador for Peace Ramazan Abdulatipov, former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, organized this gathering to discuss the future national and interethnic policies of the Russian Federation.
Among the speakers were Senators Valery Kadohov and Alexander Jasohov and Valery Tishkov, Director of the Institute of Ethnology at the Russian Academy of Sciences. Konstantin Krylov, Secretary General of UPF-Russia, addressed the “Ethnic Diversity” round table of the Conference. Many participants representing regions of the Russian Federation expressed the need for education in tolerance and good values throughout the country.
The partnership between UPF and the Assembly of the Russian Peoples has been developing over the past three years. One of the best joint programs was the celebration of Africa Day in the House of the Russian Peoples in Moscow in 2010.
