Washington DC, USA - UPF's Office of Embassy Relations in Washington DC concluded its programs for the year with a seminar on December 8 to introduce the core values and teachings of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, Founder of UPF. This seminar was the first presentation in an educational series that will continue into the new year.
Mrs. Susan Fefferman, an Ambassador for Peace, presented the lectures. Mrs. Fefferman graduated from the Unification Theological Seminary, which was also founded by Rev. Moon. From 1975 until the civil war in 1979, she was in Iran spreading Rev. Moon's teachings. She worked with and was trained by Rev. Moon for more than 40 years.
The UPF Peace Embassy was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations both inside and out. The Saturday morning program began with a delicious breakfast prepared by UPF volunteers for the early-comers. The seminar offered lectures on “God’s Original Ideal of Peace” and “Understanding the Root Cause of Human Conflict.” The program ended at noon; however, most guests stayed longer and shared their views with each other on different religions and their understandings and experiences of their own faiths. Fourteen guests, including diplomats from Iran and Indonesia, NGO leaders, and friends of UPF attended.
The presentations were well received by the Muslim guests and offered them a broader perspective of the vision and life of Rev. Moon. They expressed appreciation for the insights presented during the program. Tomiko Duggan, Director of Public Affairs, encouraged the guests to come back to the next seminar for a presentation about patterns of history and their implications for current affairs.
UPF – DC thanks Rev. Greg Carter, who provided beautiful poinsettias and a wreath at the entrance doors.
