St. Petersburg, Russia - Thirty people enthusiastically participated in an Oct. 19, 2013 forum in St. Petersburg on "Ways to Achieve Peace." Mr. Nicolai Sokurov, a Young Ambassador for Peace, opened the forum with a presentation about how peace begins in the mind of each individual.

The bright and very detailed account of the results of the trip to Poland was presented by Ambassador for Peace Tatiana Nadzinskaya. She opened the historical panorama of the most painful moments of Russian - Polish relations: Katyn and the Warsaw uprising. This emotional story made evident the great difficulty of achieving true reconciliation and the need for repentance on the part of Russia. This is the path to peace. Ambassador for Peace Elena Mironova added the statement by describing how they at the Educational Center of the Institute for National Remembrance teach students to take pride in their motherland. She spoke about importance of knowing one’s family pedigree and about the methodology developed by her husband, Yuri Mironov and approved by the Patriarch Alexy. This method is now applied all over Russia.

About the Moscow – Paris Marathon, Gennady Krasnoshekov shared so emotionally that those present felt a strong desire to join these extraordinary people who covered the distance of 3,000 kilometers, considering that three of them were 72, 76, and 78 years old! Valentin Tyurenkov shared about the benefits of running: one hour of running increases the rate of metabolism five times! In Valentin’s dream, each area of the city should have a club for runners. The third marathoner, Valugin Gennady, shared about his dream to organize a marathon from St. Petersburg to Kaliningrad, for which he would like to enlist support of UPF. Afterwards, Gennady Krasnoshchekov, Valentina Tyurenkova and Gennady Valugin were appointed Ambassadors for Peace. The ceremony was attended by Maria Nazarova, secretary general of UPF-Russia, and Jury Gavrilin, chairman of UPF-Northwest Russia.

The meeting was followed by a tea party. The participants talked a long time, discussing the events of the meeting.
