There is a growing awareness among people throughout the world of the urgent need for innovative vision and bold leadership if we are to resolve the critical issues of our time. With this in mind, the World Summit convened by UPF and affiliated organizations will bring together world leaders whose individual and collective experience, wisdom and insight can help promote peace and prosperity for all the world’s peoples. In addition to the high-level sessions of the World Summit, delegates will have opportunities to meet with officials representing the government, academia, the private sector and the media.

Dr. Yang met with the president of the Senate, Hon. Obami Itou, and the chairman of UPF-Congo, Mr. Maurice Nguesso.

Two conferences for government officials and other distinguished leaders were held on the theme of Peace Initiatives to Promote Dialogue, Reconciliation and Cooperation. They featured presentations on UPF's principles of peace, the cause and resolution of conflicts, UPF's Middle East Peace Initiative, the activities of UPF in Africa, and the mission of Ambassadors for Peace. Speakers included Dr. Yang, Minister Obenbe and Rev. Michel Futila de Mayeko, Secretary General of UPF-D.R. Congo.

On April 10 there were 115 participants, and the program closed with the appointment of two new Ambassadors for Peace. A similar conference on April 11 was attended by 155 people.

Participants expressed appreciation for the insights and information and expressed hope that more such conferences would take place in the future.
