Lyon, France - Mr. Jacques Marion, newly appointed president of UPF-France, and Mrs. Brigitte Wada, president of the Women’s Federation for World Peace-France, were invited by Ambassadors for Peace in Lyon to participate in a round table on the theme: “Peace: A Universal Value.” About 40 people attended the April 27, 2014, meeting in the Confluence district.
Mr. Marion gave a presentation by PowerPoint on UPF’s activities and projects around the world and on UPF’s peace philosophy. Mrs. Wada emphasized that peace is not just an agreement or a peace treaty but it starts with us in our own heart and then in the family. She stated that in this new era, the role of women together in harmony with men is very important to build a peaceful world.
Mrs. Colette Ilunga, an elected representative of the 9th district of Lyon and president of the association “Emergence Plus,” was appointed an Ambassador for Peace to acknowledge her long commitment to bringing intercultural harmony and peace in Lyon.
Among the speakers were Madam Rosalie Gueye, president of the association MIFERVAL which hosted the round table. Other speakers included M. Eitel Motome of the humanitarian association "La case Africaine” which distributes food to more than 400 families in need; Ms. Elisabeth Rodet, a midwife who explained the conditions in which she continued to work in a hospital in Algeria in spite of a climate of war in 1962; M. Michel Bredard, UPF’s representative in Lyon; and M. Jean-Paul Chaudy, head of the Family Federation for World Peace in the Lyon area.
