Active Dreaming in Moscow

Moscow, Russia - Active dreaming—which is also called “lucid dreaming” and “conscious dreaming”—was the focus of the first International Festival of Active Dreams held at the Moscow Peace Embassy. Participants in the event, which took place on March 23, 2014, and was co-sponsored by Partnership and Integration and UPF-Russia, included leaders and members of charitable groups as well as contestants of the Mr. and Miss University pageant.

Ambassadors for Peace Irina Golubeva and Vedagar Morgunov were among the presenters, supported by the Club for Motivational Communication.

The program consisted of master classes. One of these, conducted by coach Julia Kleiman, was titled "How to Get on TV in Three Months." With her help, the participants could better understand their inner selves, identify ways and strategies, develop qualities suitable for television and analyze the errors of those who could not do it.

During another master class, Evgenya Postnikova introduced "the Feldenkrais Method," which, with a few exercises imperceptible to others, can relieve pain in the small of one’s back, shoulders and joints.

In the master class "Music—Word—Dream" Larissa Pototska used music and poetry to help participants discover their ultimate "I” and try their abilities in the role of dream space creators.

At the end of the festival the film "The Pursuit of Happiness” was shown, followed by a discussion. All the participants noted the inspiring character of the motion picture and its main idea that happiness is always there; one just has to believe in it.

During the conference Irina Golubeva also taught the art of making "green cocktails” that were not only tasty but also healthy.

The following are among the reflections of two participants:

Lera Mussina: The theme of the event was that people should be able to dream; once they start, their dream will inspire them to move forward. In the interesting master class "How to Get on TV," Julia from the first minutes captured the attention of the audience; just by looking at her it was already possible to learn how to keep an audience engaged. Then there was an exercise in which each participant could try the role of a presenter, operator or actor. It was a wonderful experience to think about and understand what we needed to cultivate. The main idea of the movie "The Pursuit of Happiness" was expressed in its slogan: "Do not let anyone tell you that there is something you cannot do. If you have a dream—try to protect it." I think many have to take these words for their life motto. Life has in store many difficulties and obstacles, but if one knows what one wants, if one has a dream, no matter what the situation, one shouldn’t give up but must always move forward

Dasha Lavrenteva: Since my childhood I have loved dream making. When I got the opportunity to dream big and share my dreams with others, I agreed to join in without hesitation! This evening was awesome! When your friends’ and acquaintances’ dreams come true, dreaming is not harmful but useful! This workshop made me believe in my capabilities, because our dreams come true only through our own efforts! We should just proceed to the end, with a smile and a firm step!
