Kathmandu, Nepal - Three forums for educators on the theme of “The Role of Education in Building a Prosperous Society” took place in November 2014 at the UPF peace embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The significance of education to society was the theme of three programs held for Nepal’s school principals in November 2014.
The series, entitled “The Role of Education in Building a Prosperous Society,” was co-organized by UPF-Nepal and the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification of Nepal. The events took place in the Peace Embassy in Kathmandu, the nation’s capital.
More than 60 school principals attended the first meeting on Nov. 18, and four of them were appointed Ambassadors for Peace. The second meeting, held on Nov. 25, had an audience of more than 40 principals, of whom 15 became Ambassadors for Peace. At the third meeting on Nov. 30, more than 50 principals attended and 20 of them received the Ambassador for Peace certificate.
UPF-Nepal and FFWPU-Nepal organized the three programs together with the organization Private and Boarding Schools Association of Nepal (PABSON) with the goal of inviting 35,000 couples to an Interfaith Peace Blessing ceremony to be held in Kathmandu’s National Stadium on Feb. 21, 2015.
At each of the three programs, UPF-Nepal Chairman Ek Nath Dhakal and UPF-Asia Education Director Dr. Robert S. Kittel gave special presentations about marriage and family, and UPF-Nepal lecturer Richell Jalipa presented a special lecture for educators.
