Kirov, Russia - An expert in volunteerism from UPF-Russia’s Ural chapter was the guest speaker at a forum to encourage youth to volunteer.
Evgeny Skvortsov was invited to speak on “The Value of Volunteering” at a forum titled “The Time for Goodness: Opportunities for You,” which was held on Dec. 15, 2014, in Kirov, the administrative center of the Kirov Region.
Mr. Skvortsov also led a training session in the forum section entitled “"Volunteer—It's a Lifestyle."
The forum organizer was the Kirov Region youth organization YUKONA, which seeks to encourage social activity among young people, with support from the Kirov Administration for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports and the Kirov City Department for Education.
The forum served as the finale of a contest also titled "The Time for Goodness," which was designed to stimulate the volunteer spirit among Kirov City youth. The activities of 15 volunteer teams were highlighted.
The event also encouraged the exchange of volunteering testimonies not only from students but also from representatives of nonprofit organizations, businesses, government departments and NGOs. Participants also came from the cities of Perm and Yekaterinburg.
