New York, United States – UPF-USA, in partnership with UNESCO Center for Peace, New York Chapter, organized an American Leadership Conference on December 19, 2014 in New York City.
The sixty participants who attended the event included Ambassadors for Peace as well as young leaders who are passionate about bringing positive change to America.
The program began with welcoming remarks from Dr. Thomas Walsh – president of UPF International – who gave highlights of the work of UPF in 2014. Dr. Walsh was followed by H.E. Ms. Sire Dione Conde – president, UNESCO Centers for Peace, NY Chapter – who warmly welcomed the guests and thanked them for their attendance.
Speakers included Mr. Ricardo de Sena, president of UPF-USA, on marriage and family; Dr. Walsh on “Principles of Peacebuilding”; and Mrs. Genie Kagawa, director of the UPF International Executive Office, on “The Root Cause of Conflict and Principles of Reconciliation.”
Participants included Ashley Freema Weeks, president of the Ghanaian Youth Education Outreach of USA; Rabbi Roger Ross, executive director of the Rabbinical Seminary International; and Imam Konate, vice president of the Imam Leadership Council in Harlem.
Fourteen Ambassadors for Peace were appointed during the conference.
