Christian Leader, Members Attend UPF-Ghana Seminar

Accra, Ghana—The district pastor of a major church and 50 of his members attended a peace education seminar held by UPF-Ghana.
Apostle Dr. Alex K. Nkrumah, the district pastor of the New Town/Dzorwulu Assemblies of God, and members of his church attended a one-day seminar held at the church premises. Apostle Dr. Nkrumah would receive an Ambassador for Peace certificate in a ceremony on July 12.
The contents taught at the seminar were the five principles of peace, one family under God, and Character Education Initiative. Among the participants were a retired state attorney, a chartered accountant, a professor, a medical doctor and businessmen/women, to mention but a few.
The seminar, held on July 1, 2015, originally was meant for the district pastor and eight of his elders but ended up attracting a total of 50 members. This is because Apostle Dr. Nkrumah is said to be a peace-loving and kindhearted individual who always wants to help others know Christ and assist them to excel in life. His thinking was, “If the workshop will benefit me in any way, let it as well benefit my members.” No doubt, he rose from being a Sunday school teacher to a district pastor with 15 churches under his leadership.
A brief from his profile: “Apostle Alex has mentored and is a mentor to a lot of pastors, leaders and business executives. He also challenges scores of businesspeople to be pacesetters in their business endeavors by using himself as an example. His family loves to promote peace among people at all times. They are also ministry-inclined due to the godly atmosphere in the home. One of his greatest works is that he has mentored his wife and one of his sons into the full-time ministry. They have responded to God’s call to serve humanity selflessly to make the world a better place than we came to meet it.”
Dr. Nkrumah was recommended for an Ambassador for Peace award by Rev. Professor Edwin Korley, Ghana’s representative at the Global Peace Council. Professor Korley remarked on how closely he had worked with Dr. Nkrumah on many occasions, and how he found him to be “a man of integrity.” When the seminar was mentioned, his response was: “No limit to learning.”
Ghana celebrates July 1 of each year as Republic Day. Apostle Dr. Nkrumah said that he holds a three-hour prayer session each year (6 a.m. to 9 a.m.) with his members on that day, interceding for the nation. At the prayer session on July 1, he announced to the members about the seminar taking place later that same day. Surprisingly, he saw that many were interested in participating.
The seminar brought so much excitement to both the pastor and his members that at the end they requested subsequent seminars. Though most of them had attended the prayer session at dawn, they stayed at the seminar until it ended in the afternoon.
There was a request to postpone the Ambassador for Peace award ceremony to Sunday, July 12, to enable them to plan the event in a grand style. On July 12, the 800-seat chapel was filled both up and down. Dignitaries from different quarters of the metropolis had come to celebrate a man said to have touched many lives positively. Five media houses, both electronic and print, were invited to cover the event. Among the UPF six-member team was an Ambassador for Peace couple from the United Kingdom, Mr. and Mrs. Aryee.
Beginning the award ceremony, the secretary general delivered the Founder’s Keynote Address, “Leaving behind a Legacy of Love,” an excerpt from the Founder’s autobiography. Many requested to have copies later.
All 50 participants of the July 1 seminar were issued with certificates. Then, the Ambassador for Peace certificate was presented to Apostle Dr. Alex Nkrumah.
In his remarks, he thanked UPF for the honor and urged every member of the audience to channel every bit of their energy to the course of peace. This, he said, is the first step to becoming Ambassadors for Christ. This makes the difference.
During the media interview in his office after the service, Dr. Nkrumah was asked the secret to his achievements. His answer was that all things have become possible due to his strong faith in God.
When he was congratulated by the UPF-Ghana secretary general, he expressed that he was amazed to observe the signatures of the UPF founders on the award certificate. “What a fortune for me!” he exclaimed. Apostle Dr. Nkrumah has promised to design a timetable for his members to attend future UPF seminars.
