Charitable Prince Sets up Seminar for Nigerians in Ghana

Kwabenya, Ghana—UPF-Ghana held a one-day Peace Education seminar on October 22, 2015, for a group of Nigerians living in Ghana.
The seminar, which had 20 persons in attendance, was the inspiration of a traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Eze Ositadinma Stanley Akwuobi, who said he had heard of UPF and its peace activities through a friend. Being a “man of peace” according to his royal title, he contacted UPF and made consistent efforts to see that the seminar was organized. Manna Hotel situated at Kwabenya, a suburb of Accra, was the venue for the event.
HRH Eze Osita, a Nigerian, has lived in the Dome-Kwabenya area since he came to Ghana in 2006. Due to his peaceful coexistence with the people of the area, he was installed with a chieftaincy title of Eze-Udo 1 of Dome-Kwabenya. (Eze Udo 1 means “King of Peace the First.”) From that time he has contributed immensely toward peace and stability in the area.
As a philanthropist, he set up a charity foundation for underprivileged children and widows. An importer of building materials and electrical parts, he desires success not only for himself but also for many young people. “By helping people,” the Eze said, “I justify my conscience that I am living as a peacebuilder in my own little way. … I cannot feel good seeing people suffer while I am living well.” No wonder that he was appointed the chairman of an association formed by many young Nigerians living in Ghana: True Nigerian Brothers Association Ghana.
The seminar’s main presentations were:
- The Significance and Objectives of UPF
- A Vision of Peace: One Family under God
- Family as the School of Love and Peace
After viewing the PowerPoint presentation on the family, one participant confessed that he would have brought his wife if he had known of the content beforehand. Another attendee, a chief, called on UPF to organize another forum, explaining that in this period of political upheaval in Ghana, peace education is the only effective approach.
Most of the participants agreed to attend another seminar, promising to bring their family members and to mobilize more people from their tribes to receive such peace education. It is believed that there are more than 25 million registered Nigerians living in Ghana.
At the end of the seminar, HRH Eze Ositadinma was honored with the Ambassador for Peace Award in recognition of his commitment toward peace. He pledged to support UPF activities in Ghana.
