Suva, Fiji—UPF-Fiji celebrated its 10th anniversary at a ceremony that was attended by government dignitaries and NGO representatives.
Rev. Jong Deug Yoo, UPF chair for the Oceania region, presented UPF-Fiji President Ratu Filimoni with a service award during the January 23, 2016 meeting. Mr. Filimoni gave a heartfelt testimony about living his life according to the teachings of UPF founder Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon. He is a respected chief of a large province in Fiji. In the past he served the Fiji government as a minister, a member of Parliament and a senator.
Rev. Yoo also gave the keynote address in which he spoke about the vision of UPF and its founders, centered on the concept of One Family under God.
During the same program 36 sewing machines were presented to six women’s groups in Fiji by Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), two organizations that are affiliated with UPF. The permanent secretary of the Women’s Ministry attended the ceremony, representing the minister. The permanent secretary said he was looking forward to working with WFWP-Fiji in uplifting the standard of the local women’s community.
Mrs. Shobhana Ram, president of WFWP-Fiji, spoke about the vision of the organization and gave a deep testimony about past experiences of working with Japanese WFWP representatives. Mr. Santosh Neupane, chair of FFWPU-Fiji, gave a vote of thanks.
