Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso—UPF-Burkina Faso held a conference on "The Family Is the Biggest Human Institution; It's the School of Love and Peace."
More than 3,000 people attended the April 16, 2016, event, filling the Conference Hall at the House of the People to overflowing. The participants included traditional chiefs, kings of villages, former government ministers, pastors, and other dignitaries.
The event was held under the sponsorship of Wayalghin Naaba Sanem de Boussouma, an Ambassador for Peace who used radio broadcasts to mobilize many people to attend the event.
In his welcoming address Rev. K.Y. Thierry, president of the Burkina Faso chapter of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), an affiliated organization, congratulated the participants on their attendance and encouraged them to attend the upcoming training for Ambassadors for Peace. He also asked the kings to strongly consider, as they rule, the moral and religious values acknowledged by UPF and affiliated organizations. Finally he emphasized the interreligious character of the Ambassadors for Peace, inviting the kings to break down religious barriers in order to build peaceful societies.
As the main speaker, Rev. Sou Danwéré, the secretary general of UPF-Burkina Faso, invited the participants, most specifically the Ambassadors for Peace, to own and incarnate the moral values taught by UPF. He exhorted them to build strong and stable families, becoming role models for society. Reminding them that peace in the family is the foundation for peace in society, he invited them to attend a one-day training workshop that is scheduled for May.
Two hundred and six guests received their mission statement and certificate of Ambassador for Peace, including village kings, religious leaders, women leaders, and former members of government.
Television and radio news programs reported on the event.
