Arrecifes, Argentina—Members of UPF-Argentina’s Peace Council and the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), an affiliated organization, participated in the launch of the Lions International Peace Poster Contest at Arrecifes city’s Culture Center on June 30, 2016. The contest, which has been held for over 25 years, encourages young people worldwide to express their interpretation of peace.
Afterwards, the theme for this year’s contest, which is “Celebration of Peace,” was announced, and an olive tree was planted at Mitre Square.
Also as part of the launch, UPF-Argentina and WFWP co-organized a presentation for students from Special School 501, No. 1 and 7. A special bond was formed between the representatives from both organizations—in particular, Mrs. Mieko Iketo of WFWP-Japan, who spoke about peace between Argentina and Japan—and the students.
