Jakarta, Indonesia—More than 300 cyclists from 20 different bicycle clubs from around Jakarta, as well as representatives of government and Ambassadors for Peace, took part in the Peace Road 2016 event on August 14 in Indonesia.
The event began with a program at the historic Proclamation Park, where the founding fathers of Indonesia declared independence 71 years ago, which was followed by a ride. Mrs. Ursula McLackland, secretary general of UPF-Asia, welcomed all the participants and explained that the way to peace is through selfless love.
All the VIPs went on a stage and signed the Peace Road 2016 banner, after which, Mr. Edward, who was representing the mayor of Jakarta, waved a flag to start the ride.
After about 30 minutes, all cyclists returned to the park and enjoyed snacks, as well as taking photos and mingling with each other.
Everyone determined to make next year’s Peace Road grander and more challenging.
