Almaty, Kazakhstan—By ascending to the top of Peak Furmanov UPF-Kazakhstan has supported the international Peace Road initiative.
On August 13, 2016, in the Kim-Asar Valley not far from Almaty, the participants set up the base camp, from which the project started. All the participants were encouraged by the peace initiative, which promotes the idea of a world without borders. Many did not know the details of the route, but all were determined to reach the end.
After walking about 12 kilometers (almost 7.5 miles), at a height of 3,165 meters (about 10,383 feet) above sea level, the participants reached the target. They unfurled the flag of Kazakhstan and the Peace Road banners and took photographs on the top of the mountain.
After descending the mountain and arriving back at the base camp, the conquerors of the mountain peak were welcomed “home” with a festive barbecue!
A total of 10 participants made it to the top of the mountain, including one Ambassador for Peace.
