Quito, Ecuador—UPF-Ecuador celebrated the International Day of Peace 2016 with events in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil.
Although held only once year, the Day gives us an opportunity to reflect on the realities of our society and how we can invest our effort and energy to build peace in our world. We each always conclude that peace starts from our heart and from the family. This year, participants of both events learned about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Day was celebrated in Quito on September 17. Thirty-four Ambassadors for Peace and members and friends of UPF-Ecuador gathered at the Peace Embassy to confirm their commitment to do more to advance peace in our society.
The Guayaquil celebration took place on September 28. Eighty-nine guests attended the event, which was organized by UPF’s main Ambassador for Peace representative in Guayaquil. At the event, two new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed.
UPF-Ecuador will continue its efforts for peace, which begins in the heart and in the family, by organizing small meetings to study the principles of peace and visiting local families.
