Suva, Fiji—Peace Road 2016 was carried out in a village on Venua Levu, the second largest island of Fiji, with all the villagers participating.
Nawaido is a small and beautiful village in Solevu District of Bua Province. This is the birthplace of Ratu Filimoni Ralogaivau, the president of UPF-Fiji and a Fijian high chief. Ratu Filimoni proposed to launch Peace Road 2016 in his village.
We had a wonderful project. All the villagers walked around the small village carrying placards. Ratu Filimoni spoke about the history of divided Korea and the vision of UPF Founder Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon for the peaceful reunification of the last divided country in the world.
Mr. Santosh Neupane, the chair of the Fiji chapter of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), an affiliated organization, spoke on Rev. Dr. Moon’s vision of unifying the world through an international highway. Mr. Neupane took the opportunity to tell the villagers about the mission and vision of UPF and reported about the life of the founder.
This village was highly affected by Cyclone Winston, which struck Fiji in February 2016. We took the opportunity to distribute bags full of school supplies to 11 secondary students and 20 primary students. The support was sponsored by Women’s Federation for World Peace International, another affiliated organization.
Mr. Praveen Ram, one of the pillars supporting the foundation of Rev. Dr. Moon’s vision, was the guest of honor at the program.
